About Tony

Tony OlivasSacred Heart Tattoo’s founder and owner has been Tattooing 38 years now and has achieved over 100 world titles. His work has been in every major tattoo magazine throughout the world and one of his tattoos was on display in the museum of natural history.

He started tattooing in Tucson Arizona when he was 15 years old. He started tattooing by poking it in by hand with a needle and thread. Then one day his brother Henry came in with a homemade style machine that a friend of theirs gave him. It was a tape recorder for the motor, a toothbrush for the handle, a ballpoint pen and guitar string for the needle, but to him it was amazing. So that started Tony with making machines as well. The first machine he ever made was a rotary 38 years ago.

In 1988 he moved to Alabama where I was tattooing out of the Depot Lounge which was owned by James and Ma Williams. He went to Panama City Beach Florida in 1989 and got a job at Dixieland Tattoos with Mr. Adam West. Then he went to Virginia and started working for Ancient Art Tattoo which was owned by JD Crowe and Jerry Riegger. He worked with Jerry for a couple of years. He taught Tony everything there is to know about running a business, making needles, building tattoo machines, tattoo etiquette and definitely respect for the industry. He was a great mentor and introduced Tony to all of his mentors like Jack Rudy, Brian Everett, Mr. Lyle Tuttle and many, many, more...

The tattoo industry has been an amazing journey, becoming good friends with Jack Rudy, Brian Everett, Lyle Tuttle, Bob Tyrell, Big Gus and so many other amazing artists that have made this industry what it is today. He’s able to travel the world; He’s been to Australia all the way to Vienna, Austria , Germany, Sweden, Holland, Panama City, Panama, Ottawa, Canada, Mexico City, and all over this beautiful United States doing what he loves the most... tattooing...
